Someone Else
Well I catch my reflection like its some kind of disease
Wish I quarantined my thoughts before they made it past my teeth
I walk outside and it feels just like the weight of everybody’s eyes
Is wrapped around my heart so tight that it might cease to beat
And its all…
Vocals are done so far on 5 songs, so there’s just one more to go:-) This is a fun time in the recording process, because I know that my physical output is almost done. Soon it won’t be up to me to hit notes, play parts correctly and do all those things that real musicians excel at. I liken this…
Jellyrawkers is looking for street team leaders.
Hey guys.
Jellyrawkers is the name for Street Team for The Jellyrox.
If you wanna be a captain shoot us a message on here and we’ll tell you how.
And if you just want to be part of the ST and get prizes and stuff, you’re invited as well.
When i was a kid i listened to anything with power chords or synthesizers that i could get my hands on. I even went through a Christian rock phase believe it or not. I was super into Joy Electric, MXPX, Five Iron Frenzy and Slick Shoes just to name a few. One of the notables was a band called Smalltown Poets. I recently had the privilege of acquainting myself with their keyboardist Danny (who also happens to be a bit of a producer himself). Long story short i ended up takin a wild swing at remixing a song from their new EP they just released called Under The New Sun.
If you’re familiar with the band, you probably already know that they are the kind of guys that intentionally come up with finger-cramp-inducing-next-to-impossible complicated guitar chord structures and voicings simply to frustrate the crap out of every who attempts to play their songs. Of course, we all know they do this simply to lord their superior musical abilities over the rest of the seemingly “guitarted” populus of musicians still trying to figure out how to augment a J Major suspended 4.
As a friendly gesture of sassiness i decided to try and strip this song down as far as i could go without offending my ears or conscience. One of the funnest things about remixing a track is that you get to re-imagine it from the ground up. I started out by deleting everything in the session that wasn’t a vocal part, followed by a nap (cause there were a lot of tracks). From there i did my best to think about how to take SP into an area they had probably never been before. Seeing as they are great writers to begin with, i already had a great song to put some skin on. This track is a bare bones approach to remixing a track in the complete opposite direction of the original track itself. I could bump this on 11 in my car in front of my black friends and still feel safe, and thats something i could have never said about any of their songs before…
Anyway, i hope they like it and I hope you all enjoy it:-)
Blessings and Civil War History,

All throughout life you hear about people who “know what they want”. We’re told to admire and look up to these people for their tenacity and their ability to obsess over something until they achieve it. I don’t think any of that is real. If there’s one thing life has taught me so far its that…

“Sometimes we let disappointments or bad experiences [start to] shape the way we see the world. It’s hard to trust after trust is broken, or to have faith in something that still hasn’t happened yet. It’s important that we remember to always get back up. Never linger in the disappointment, don’t wade around too long in your failures or in what happened yesterday.”](http://25.media.tumblr.com/5c614af01a35261eae899f0b2ba1b744/tumblr_mi4d2mU8l61rqbzlto1_250.jpg)
